If you go to Begumpura in Surat, you’ll find us in the Kuberji Block. We are on the third floor, shop number 301, right near Kuberji House. This whole area of Narvan Akhada is packed with shops and people selling all kinds of fabrics. It’s an old part of the city, so the streets are narrow and always full of scooters. Our shop is up a few flights of stairs, which keeps us fit since we’re going up and down all day. We are the Avantifab Brothers Limited, and it’s a family-run kind of atmosphere here. There are piles of fabric on every surface, and we often have to clear a chair just for someone to sit down. It gets pretty loud with the shouting from the street and the constant ringing of the phones. We don't have a big corporate office or a boardroom. We just have a small space where we sit together and figure out the day’s tasks. It can get a bit chaotic when several orders come in at once, but we’ve learned how to manage. The tea guy knows our order by heart now. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a fancy lobby. We just want to get the fabric out to where it needs to go. It’s a lot of manual counting and packing. By the evening, the place is a mess, but we start all over again the next morning.
