Anand Electronics

If you go down Surat Senapati Bapat Marg, you will find Anand Electronics. The number is 303669, though most people just know us by the sign. It’s a place full of gadgets and wires. I have televisions on the wall and they are usually playing some news channel just for the noise. There are fans and mixers in boxes on the floor. It’s hard to walk around sometimes without bumping into something. The street outside is always full of cars and people. Surat is a busy place, and Senapati Bapat Marg is one of those roads that never stays quiet. I spend a lot of time explaining how a certain microwave works or why a fridge is making a weird sound. I’m not a big expert, but I’ve been around these machines long enough to know the basics. The shop gets quite dusty because of the road, so I’m always using a yellow cloth to wipe things down. Sometimes people come in just to cool off under the ceiling fan. I don’t mind. I’ve lived in this city all my life and this shop is just my part of it. I keep a small radio near me to listen to songs in the evening. It’s just me here, looking after the items and talking to whoever walks through the door. I try to stay open until at least eight o'clock every night.
