Amika Indian Textile and Art Museum LLP is based in a very specific part of Surat. We are located at Dr. Amichandshah’s Wadi in Rampura Tunki. The area code is 395003. It is an old area with a lot of character. The Wadi itself has its own history, and we are glad to be a part of it. We aren't a typical museum with glass cases and hushed hallways. It’s more of a living space where textiles and art are handled. The name might sound grand, but we are quite a practical bunch. We spend our time looking at different pieces and managing the collection we have. Rampura Tunki is a traditional neighborhood, so you won’t find many modern glass buildings here. It’s more about the old brick and the winding paths. People who visit us usually know the area well or are looking for something very specific. We don't do big ad campaigns. We just stay here in the Wadi and do our work. Sometimes the humidity in Surat is a bit much for the older fabrics, so we have to be careful. It’s a quiet life compared to the big textile markets, but it’s what we enjoy. We are just a few people interested in the local art and cloth traditions.
