Amar Engineering Works & Motor Re Powering Works

Amar Engineering is located in Phase I, right near Varli Garden in Surat. It is a good spot because people can easily tell others to just look for the garden. We spend most of our time working on motors. It is loud and greasy work, but we like it. The shop has been here for a good while now. We do motor re-powering, which basically means we take things that stopped working and try to get them running again. My hands are almost always black from oil, and no matter how much I wash them with soap, it never quite comes off. The floor is concrete and has some cracks, but it holds the heavy equipment just fine. We have a few lathes and some old tools that have been with us since the very start. Sometimes the power goes out in this area, so we just sit outside near the gate until it comes back on. We know all the other shop owners around Varli Garden. It is a nice community of people working hard. We do not have a secretary or anyone fancy. If the phone rings, whoever is closest picks it up. Usually, we are too busy under a machine to answer right away, so people just leave a message or call back. We just do what we know how to do. The work is hard on the back, but seeing an old engine start up again is a very good feeling for us.
