Our company, Baba Bhola Das Farmers Producer Companylimited, is way out in the Supaul district. We are in a village called Rajpur, which falls under the Post-Chauhata and Ps-Kishanpur area. It is a very rural spot, and the life here revolves around the seasons and the soil. We named the company after Baba Bhola Das, and we try to work together as a community. The office is just a simple building in the village where we gather to talk about the harvest. There are no paved roads right to the door, so it can be a bit of a walk. We deal with whatever crops the local farmers are growing at the time. You will often find people sitting on the floor or on small stools discussing prices. We don't have computers for everything, so a lot of stuff is written down by hand. The village is quiet except for the sounds of animals and the occasional tractor. We have a lot of meetings under the shade of the trees when the weather is nice. It is a very honest way to live and work. We don't have a big budget for fancy things. Every rupee we make usually goes back into the farming needs of the group. We are just local villagers trying to help each other get by in Supaul. The mosquitoes can be quite bad in the evenings, so we usually try to wrap up our meetings before it gets too dark.
