This is the Katihar Banana Farmers Producer Company Limited. We are based in Vill-Dighrisalempur, which is part of the Korha block in Katihar district. Most of our members live and work in the Tola-Dighrisalempurpanch-Dighari area. Around here, bananas are the main thing we deal with. It is what we have grown up with and what we know best. The soil in this part of Katihar is perfect for these trees. We started this company because we wanted to have more of a say in how our produce is sold. When you are just one farmer, it is very hard to get a good price or find the right buyers. By working together as a producer company, we can share our knowledge and help each other out. Our office is a very basic spot in the village where we keep our records and meet up after we finish in the fields. It is definitely not a fancy place. You will usually see us in our work clothes, covered in dust or mud depending on the season. We are not interested in sounding like a big city corporation. We just want to sell our bananas and make sure the families in Dighrisalempur can keep going. Life here follows the seasons, and when it is time to harvest, everyone is busy from early morning until late at night. That is just how it is for us in this part of the world.
