Shahi Arts

Shahi Arts is based in Pampore, over in the Pulwama district. This area is known for a lot of things, and we’ve been part of the local scene here for quite a while. We work with our hands mostly. The air here is nice, though it gets quite cold in the winter months. We usually have a heater going while we work on our art pieces. It’s a slow process, not something you can just hurry along. People in Pampore know us as just another local spot where things get made. We don’t have a website or any of that fancy stuff. We just have our workspace and the tools we’ve used for years. Sometimes tourists stop by when they are passing through Pulwama, but mostly it’s just locals. We use traditional methods because that’s how we learned. It’s not always easy, and sometimes materials are hard to get, but we manage to keep the doors open. The workshop is a bit old, with wooden floors and lots of storage for our supplies. We take pride in just getting the job done right. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We start early when the light is good and finish up before it gets too dark. It’s just how we’ve always done it here. We don't see any reason to change things up now after all this time. It feels right to keep things the old way.
