Mandoo & Sons

Mandoo & Sons is a small shop located in Kral Yaar, in the Rainawari area of Srinagar. We have been here for a long time, and the shop has stayed pretty much the same over the years. My father was the one who started it, and now I run it with my sons. We mostly sell basic things that people in this part of Srinagar need for their homes. You can find rice, flour, spices, and tea on our shelves. We also keep some daily items like milk and bread. The streets in Rainawari are quite narrow, and everyone knows each other by name. Our store is just a local meeting point where people chat while buying their groceries. We don't have any big signs or bright lights. It’s just an old-fashioned shop with wooden counters. During the winter, when it gets very cold and snowy, things slow down a bit. We sit by the heater and wait for customers to come in. Sometimes it is hard to get new stock when the roads are closed, but we try to keep enough for the neighborhood. We are not trying to be a big supermarket or anything like that. We just want to provide what our neighbors need. It is a simple life and we are happy with how things are. We open early in the morning and stay until it gets dark. Most of our customers have been coming to us for decades and we appreciate their support.
