Vivekanand Sr. Sec. School

Vivekanand Sr. Sec. School is situated in Ward No.10 of Gajsinghpur, which is up in the Sri Ganganagar district. It’s a part of the world where the wind blows hard and the fields go on forever. Our school sits right in the middle of the residential area. It’s a senior secondary school, so we have students of all ages, from the little ones starting out to the older kids getting ready for their final board exams. The building is a solid structure with several wings. We have a big gate that stays open during the day for the students who come on cycles. You can see rows of bicycles parked near the entrance every morning. The classrooms are filled with the sound of teachers explaining lessons and the scratching of pens on paper. We have a library that has been built up over the years, though some of the books have torn covers now. The staff room is usually a mess of papers and tea cups, which is how we like it. It’s a practical environment. We don’t spend money on unnecessary things; we just make sure there are enough chairs and that the lights work. During the winter, the morning fog is so thick you can barely see the school from the road. But the kids still show up, and we still start the day on time.
