Stepping Stone Modern English School

Our school is right on the Padampur-Jaitsar Road in Tamkot. It’s a busy stretch of road, especially with the tractors and trucks moving between the towns. You can see the school building as you drive through Padampur in the Sri Ganganagar district. We’ve got a decent amount of space here, though it never feels like enough when all the kids are out for recess. The name is Stepping Stone Modern English School, but we are just a local place where kids come to study. The wind can get pretty strong out here in this part of Rajasthan, blowing sand across the playground, but we just deal with it. The classrooms are filled with the usual sounds of pencils scratching and teachers talking. We don't have any big corporate backers or anything like that. It’s just us, the local staff, trying to make sure the kids in Tamkot get a fair chance at their lessons. On some days, the sun is really bright over the fields nearby, and it’s quite a view from the upper windows. We spend a lot of time making sure the building stays in good shape, even if it shows its age here and there. Families from all around Padampur send their children here, so we see a lot of different faces every morning. It’s a steady routine that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Even when the power goes off and we have to rely on the breeze from the windows, everyone just keeps going with their work without much fuss.
