S. P. Chowgule College

Our college is located out in Fatorda, just a bit away from the main part of Margao. It’s an old place with a lot of history and you can feel it in the hallways and the big stone buildings. Students come here from all over Goa, taking the local buses that drop them off near the post office. The campus has a lot of trees which is nice when the sun is really hitting the pavement. We have a canteen that stays busy from morning till late afternoon with people drinking tea and talking about their exams. The labs have that specific smell of chemicals and old paper that stays in your clothes. During the rainy season, everything turns very green and we have to keep the windows shut to stop the rain from blowing in. It’s not a quiet place because there are always groups of people moving between the library and the lecture halls. We have a big field where the sports stuff happens and a few quiet corners if you need to study. The staff room is always a mess of papers and tea cups, which is how we like it. Most people know this college as a landmark in Margao. It has been around for a long time and the routine stays mostly the same every year. We just keep doing what we do and the students keep coming back.
