Chowgule College

You can find us on the first floor of the Fondekar Building. We’re right across from the Carmelite Monastery on Cine Vishant Road here in Margao. It’s a good spot, though the stairs can be a bit tiring if you’re carrying a lot of books. The building is older, but it has character. We have classrooms set up with basic desks and chairs. It’s not like those big universities with huge campuses. Here, everything is a bit more personal. We see the same faces every day. The noise from the road downstairs sometimes drifts in, especially when there’s a lot of traffic near the monastery. We have a small staff room where we drink way too much coffee and talk about the day’s lessons. Goa is a relaxed place, and we try to keep that feeling here too. We focus on getting the students through their courses without too much fuss. There’s a lot of paperwork to deal with, and the filing cabinets are getting pretty full. Students hang out in the hallway between classes. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so we keep the windows open for the breeze. It’s a straightforward place for learning. We don’t have a big cafeteria or anything, just some local shops nearby where everyone goes for snacks. It’s a quiet life of teaching and studying in the heart of Margao.
