Vikas Bartan Bhandar

If you head to the Kalkaji Mini Central Market and look for shops 35 and 36, you will find Vikas Bartan Bhandar. We have a lot of space because we took two units to fit all the inventory. It is a traditional kitchenware shop, so expect to see stacks of steel thalis, tiffins, and heavy cooking pots everywhere. The aisles are a bit narrow because we have so much stock, from small spoons to large milk cans. We have been here for years, and we have seen the market change around us while we stayed pretty much the same. People come to us when they are setting up a new kitchen or when they need a gift for a wedding. It is a noisy place sometimes, with the sound of metal clinking and people bargaining over prices. We don't have a fancy computer system for everything; we still do a lot of things the old-fashioned way. The shop gets very busy on weekends, and sometimes we have to pull items down from the high shelves using a long stick. It is hard work, staying on our feet all day, but it’s what we know. We don't do any big advertising, as word of mouth in Kalkaji has always been enough for us.
