The Chocolate Beetle

If you find yourself over in South Extension Part I, you might stumble across our little place at number 201. We call it The Chocolate Beetle. It’s a bit of a weird name, I know, but it stuck and we like it. We spend most of our time working with sweets and trying to get the recipes to turn out right. It’s a lot of trial and error in the kitchen. Some days the chocolate doesn't melt quite right or the temperature in the room is off, but that's just part of it. We aren't some massive factory producing thousands of bars. It’s just a small operation. We started this because we liked the idea of having a local shop where people could just grab something good. The neighborhood is busy, especially being in Part I, so there’s always noise outside. We just stay busy inside. It gets messy sometimes, with cocoa powder everywhere, but we clean up and start again the next morning. It’s not a perfect setup, but it’s ours. We don't really do much advertising or anything. Mostly, it’s just people walking by and seeing the name. If you're in the area, you'll see us there. We’re usually busy in the back, but someone is always around. It’s a simple life, making things that people enjoy eating. We've been here for a few years now and don't plan on going anywhere soon.
