The Steel Furnace Association Of India operates out of a space in Green Park Extn, specifically E-20 on the first floor. It’s a decent area, though parking can be a real headache if you arrive late in the morning. Inside, it’s mostly what you’d expect from an association office. There are folders everywhere and we spend a lot of time keeping track of what’s happening in the steel sector. It’s a lot of coordination between different groups. We talk to people who run furnaces and try to keep everyone updated on the latest rules or just what’s going on in the trade. It’s not glamorous work. Sometimes the printer jams right when we need to send out a notice, which is frustrating, but we manage. We aren't a massive corporate entity with hundreds of people. It’s a small team here making sure the interests of the furnace owners are looked after. Usually, there’s a tea break in the afternoon where we talk about non-work stuff for a bit before getting back to the emails. Being in Green Park means we have some good food spots nearby, which is nice for lunch. We’ve been at this for a while and the goal is just to keep things moving for the members without too much fuss. It's practical work that needs doing, so we do it every day from this office. It can get tedious but someone has to stay on top of the industry news.
