Rimsha Fashions

You can find Rimsha Fashions at G-33 in Shaheen Bagh. It’s a narrow building, and we are tucked away on one of the floors there. We do a lot of sewing and checking for loose threads. The noise of the machines is something we have grown used to over the years. It’s a family thing, really. A few of us sit around the big table in the middle to do the finishing work by hand. Shaheen Bagh is a crowded place, so there is always something going on outside our window. We get a lot of local women coming in to see what we are working on. We don’t have a big sign or anything. Most people just know where we are. The stairs are a bit steep, and the lighting could be better, but we make it work. We spend our afternoons sorting through buttons and zippers. Sometimes we run out of space and have to stack finished pieces on the old sofa. It’s a busy little workshop. We don't use any fancy software to track things, just a notebook that sits by the door. We’ve been here long enough that we know the guys at the tea stall by their voices. It’s a tight-knit community. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. If the door is open, it means we are in.
