Sahara Impex

We are based at D 39 Old Double Storey in Lajpat Nagar IV. Lajpat Nagar is a busy part of Delhi, and the Old Double Storey buildings have their own character. They aren't new or shiny, but they are sturdy. Our place is on one of the levels where the stairs are a bit steep. Sahara Impex operates out of a few rooms that we’ve filled with boxes and samples. The walls are painted a plain white, though they have some scuffs from moving crates around. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking the manifests that come in. It’s a practical environment. There’s a small kitchen area where we make tea, and that’s about it for comforts. The windows look out onto the street, and we can see the street food vendors setting up every afternoon. The smell of frying snacks usually fills the office around four o’clock. Being in Lajpat Nagar IV means we are close to everything, but it also means parking is a nightmare. We tell people to just take an auto-rickshaw if they are coming to see us. We don’t have a big corporate office with a receptionist. It’s just us in D 39, surrounded by ledgers and packing tape. The work is mostly about coordinating things and making sure the counts are right before everything goes out. It’s a simple operation, run by a few of us who have been here for years.
