Working at Safdarjung Hospital & Vmmc means you get used to a lot of activity. It’s a combined space where the hospital and the medical college sit right together. Because of that, there are always students and doctors-in-training walking around in their white coats. It’s a huge campus and can be quite tiring to walk from one end to the other. There isn't much in the way of decoration here; it’s all very functional and basic. The walls are painted in those standard colors you see in older public buildings. People come here because it’s a major center, so the waiting areas are almost always full. You’ll see families huddled together, sometimes waiting for hours. It’s just the way the place operates given the sheer number of people needing help. The air is thick with the sound of voices and the hum of fans. It’s a bit of a struggle to keep everything organized when so many things are happening at once. We don't try to make it look like a private clinic because it isn't. It’s a big, gritty, hardworking place. Some days are smoother than others, but mostly it’s just about getting through the day's tasks. It’s a bit of a local institution, even if it’s a bit rough around the edges. You find your way eventually, but it takes some effort. We don't have much room for anything other than the work itself. There's no fluff here.
