Safdar Jung Hospital

We work in the Accounts Section of Safdar Jung Hospital. This isn't the part of the hospital where you see doctors or patients in beds. Instead, we deal with all the numbers, bills, and paperwork that keep the whole place running. Our office is filled with stacks of files, ledgers, and computers that always seem to be humming. It is a bit of a maze in here sometimes with all the documents moving from one desk to another. We handle the salaries for the staff and the payments for all the supplies the hospital needs. It is a lot of responsibility because even a small mistake in the numbers can cause a big headache later on. The room is usually filled with the sound of typing and people talking about budgets or invoices. We aren't out on the front lines, but the work we do here is what makes sure the medicine and equipment are actually available for the wards. Sometimes the lines at our windows get long when people have questions about their billing or reimbursements. We try to get through the pile of papers as fast as we can, but government procedures take their own time. It is not a glamorous job, and the office looks like a typical government workspace with old cupboards and rows of desks. We just come in, do the math, file the reports, and make sure the financial side of the hospital stays on track. It is a quiet but busy corner.
