People Media Network

We are based over at E-4 in Badarpur Roopnagar, specifically in the Harinagar-Iii area. People Media Network is a small operation that we started to cover what’s happening in our local corner of the world. Our office is basically a few rooms filled with cameras, tripods, and editing computers. It’s a bit cluttered with cables running across the floor, and we’re always losing the lens caps. We aren't a big national news channel with a studio audience. It’s mostly just us going out into the neighborhood to talk to people and then coming back here to put the videos together. The area is quite busy, and sometimes the noise from the street makes it hard to record voiceovers, so we have to wait for the traffic to die down. We spend a lot of time drinking coffee and looking at screens until our eyes get tired. It’s a gritty, hands-on way to do media. We don't have fancy leather chairs or a shiny lobby. It’s a place where work gets done by people who actually live around here. We know the local shopkeepers and the people who run the neighborhood associations. It’s a bit of a struggle sometimes to keep everything running on a tight budget, but we manage to get our stories out there anyway. It’s just how we operate in this part of town in Badarpur Roopnagar.
