Pearl Academy Of Fashion

The Pearl Academy of Fashion is tucked away in Pamposh Enclave, specifically at B 20. It’s a busy corner of New Delhi. If you walk inside, you won't find a quiet corporate office. Instead, there’s usually the sound of sewing machines running and people debating over fabric swatches. We have rooms filled with mannequins and long tables for cutting patterns. It’s a bit chaotic, but it’s the kind of chaos that comes from people actually making things. The walls are covered in sketches and scraps of material pinned up everywhere. We’ve been in this building for a while, and it’s definitely started to show its age, but that just gives it more character. Our staff spends a lot of time helping students figure out how to put garments together. There’s no big hierarchy here; we all just pitch in when a project is due. We use a lot of thread and spend a lot of time cleaning up pins from the floor. It’s a practical place for people who want to learn the trade. We aren't about the glitz of the runway as much as we are about the hard work that happens behind the scenes. It gets hot in the afternoons, and the air conditioning struggles sometimes, but we just keep working. It’s a real place where real skills are taught, and we like it that way. We just focus on the craft every day.
