Orient Craft

Orient Craft is located at 18/353 in Dakshin Puri, right in the heart of a busy New Delhi neighborhood. If you’ve ever walked through the lanes here, you know it’s a tight squeeze. Our place is tucked in among houses and other small shops. It’s the kind of area where everyone knows what the neighbors are up to. Inside, we have our workstations set up wherever they fit. There’s no big sign or glass front, just a regular door that stays open most of the day. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking over the handmade items that come through here. Delhi summers are no joke, so we usually have a cooler running that makes a lot of noise. The floors are a bit uneven and the lighting is just standard tube lights, but it works for what we do. We aren't some high-end boutique; we are just a group of people working with our hands and making sure the orders are ready to go out. The traffic on the main road nearby is always a headache, but once you get into the side streets of Dakshin Puri, it’s a different world. We see the same faces every day, from the tea seller to the postman. It is a bit chaotic and loud, but that is just how life is in this part of Delhi. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. It’s not fancy, but it is ours and we like it.
