National Productivity Council

You can find us over at 5-6 Institutional Area on Lodhi Road. This is one of the bigger spots for the National Productivity Council. The building is solid and has been here for a long time. It’s right in the middle of a lot of other government and semi-government offices. The hallways are long and have that specific smell of floor cleaner and old air. We have a lot of rooms filled with desks. Each desk is usually piled high with folders. We try to use the computers for everything, but the paper just keeps coming. There’s a small canteen nearby where we go for tea or a quick bite. The tea is usually too sweet, but it gives us a boost. In the summer, the heat in New Delhi 110003 is something else. We keep the fans running on high, and they make a constant whirring sound. It becomes like background music after a while. We spend the day looking at ways to make businesses work better. It sounds complicated, but it’s mostly just looking at what people do and suggesting small changes. We have meetings in the conference room, which has a big wooden table that’s slightly scratched. We don't have many decorations on the walls, just a few maps and maybe a clock that’s five minutes fast. It’s a busy place with a lot of people coming and going all the time. We just keep up with it.
