Matra Fashion

Matra Fashion is tucked away at FA-6 in Shahin Bagh, within the Jamia Nagar area. It’s a place that feels very much like a community. We open up the shutters every morning and start the day by cleaning up the dust that always seems to find its way inside. The street outside is narrow, so we hear everything that’s going on with the neighbors. Our shop is mostly filled with racks of clothes and some sewing machines in the back that we use for small bits of work. It’s not a huge space, so we have to be careful not to trip over the bags of fabric that sometimes pile up near the door. We don't have any polished displays or bright neon signs. It’s just us and the clothes we have ready. Most of our customers are locals who live just a few streets away. They know us by name, and we know what they usually look for. We spend a lot of time just chatting and having tea while we wait for the next person to come in. Shahin Bagh has a lot of energy, especially in the evenings when everyone is out and about. We keep things straightforward here. There’s no big corporate office or anything. It’s just this one spot at FA-6 where we do our work. We’ve been here for several years, and we’ve gotten used to the way things work in this part of Jamia Nagar.
