About Mamta Mitti Bartan Store – Housewares & Supplies in South Delhi
This little shop is right on Bhogal Temple Road at number 17. If you know the temple area, you know how crowded it gets, especially on festival days or weekends. We sell mitti bartan, which are those clay pots and traditional utensils people use. It’s a very simple store. We have pots stacked up almost to the ceiling in some corners. You have to be careful walking around so you don't knock anything over because clay breaks so easily. The smell of the earth is always there in the shop. We get our stock from local potters and try to keep enough for the local families who come by. It’s not a modern place with glass windows; it’s more of an open shop where you can see everything from the street. My family has been doing this, and we just keep it going. Sometimes we sit on small stools outside when it’s quiet. The road outside is always full of people going to the temple or the market nearby. We don't have a website or anything like that, just the physical store where you can come and touch the pots. People come here for a simple water matka or diyas when the season is right. It’s honest work and keeps us busy. We don't use fancy packaging, just some old newspaper or jute to wrap things up so they don't crack on the way home.
