You can find Nkd Fashion over at No. 26/814 in the Dda Flats at Madangiri. It is a very busy housing complex, so there are always kids playing outside and people talking in the corridors. Our unit is one of the many small businesses that have set up shop in these flats. It makes for a very social atmosphere. We know the lady who sells snacks at the corner and the guy who fixes the scooters downstairs. Inside our unit, we have stacks of clothes and patterns everywhere. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes. We do a lot of our own cutting and stitching right here on the premises. The space isn't huge, so we have to be very organized or we wouldn't be able to move. We use every bit of wall space for storage. The lighting isn't the best, so we brought in some extra lamps to help with the detailed work. It’s a family-run kind of vibe, even though we have a few employees who aren't related. We all eat together in the afternoons and talk about what needs to be done before the weekend. Madangiri is a place where people work hard, and we are no different. We just want to make clothes that people will actually wear and keep the business running for another year. It’s practical, everyday work for us.
