Kalpataru

This is our place in Kalkaji, right in the DDA Flats at J 3 230. It’s a typical residential area, so it’s got that feel of a lived-in neighborhood with kids playing outside and neighbors chatting. We’ve converted part of the flat to handle our work, so it’s a bit of a tight squeeze with all the equipment and papers around. Living and working in the same area means there’s no real commute, which is nice given how New Delhi traffic can be. We’ve been here for quite some time now and most of the people around know who we are. It’s not a corporate office by any means, it’s just a home-based setup where we get things done. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when deliveries arrive and we have to find space for everything. We drink a lot of tea while we work and there’s usually some music or news playing in the background. It’s a humble sort of existence, but it works for us. We handle a variety of small tasks for people in the area and some from further away too. It’s just a small family-run thing, really. We don’t have a big sign outside, just the door number, but people find their way here. It’s just life in the flats. We spend a lot of time on the phone or writing things down in our notebooks. When the weather is nice, we leave the balcony door open for some fresh air. It’s not the most professional-looking place, but we get the work done and people seem happy.
