Irene Hospital Kalkaji

You’ll find Irene Hospital Kalkaji over at DD 23 in the Kalkaji Extension. It’s a busy neighborhood and we’re right in the thick of it. The hospital isn’t massive, but we make do with the space we have. Most of our days are spent dealing with the usual stuff like fevers, stomach aches, and the occasional broken bone. The waiting room is small, and sometimes people have to stand if it’s a busy Tuesday. We have a water dispenser that gets a lot of use, and a stack of old newspapers that nobody ever reads. The doctors here are pretty straightforward and don’t spend a lot of time on small talk, they just get to the point. We have a few beds for people who need to stay over, and the rooms are basic but they stay clean. Working in Kalkaji means dealing with the noise from the street, but you stop noticing it after a while. The staff here are mostly locals, so we know which tea stall has the best snacks for the afternoon break. We don’t have a big mission statement or fancy slogans on the walls. It’s just a place where we work and where people come when they aren't feeling well. We try to keep the paperwork from piling up too high, but it’s a constant battle. It’s a regular job in a regular part of town, and we just keep the doors open for everyone. Some days are loud, some are quiet, but we’re always here at the desk.
