F.F. Modes

F.F. Modes is sitting right at E-5 in Greater Kailash Enclave-I. It is a busy little spot, and mostly, the days are spent looking through different fabrics and checking how things are coming along on the tables. The neighborhood has changed a lot over the years, but this building stays pretty much the same. Inside, there are usually piles of cloth tucked into corners and a few chairs for when people need to sit down while we talk about what they want. It’s not one of those fancy showrooms with bright lights that hurt your eyes. We keep things simple. Sometimes the traffic outside gets really loud, especially in the evenings when everyone is coming home to GK. We have a small desk near the front where we keep the books and the phone. It gets a bit dusty because of the construction down the road, so we are always wiping things down. Most of the time, the air is filled with the sound of scissors cutting through heavy cotton or someone humming along to the radio. We don’t have a big sign or anything too flashy. People just know where we are. If you walk past the main gate, you can usually see us working through the window. It is just a regular place where we get the work done. The tea man comes by at four, and that is usually the highlight of the afternoon for everyone here.
