Fashion Forecast

Our place is over in the Okhla Industrial Area, Phase 1, right near the PNB bank. If you know B-112, that is where we are. It is a busy spot with trucks coming in and out and the sound of machines everywhere. We spend our days looking at different fabrics and trying to keep up with what people are wearing these days. Fashion is a strange business because it changes so fast, but here in the workshop, it is more about the actual work of making things. We have sewing machines going and people checking patterns all day long. It gets pretty dusty and noisy, and we usually have stacks of cloth piled up in the corners. We aren't a big fancy brand with a glass showroom; we are more of a hands-on operation where we get our hands dirty. Sometimes we are here late into the evening when a big order needs to go out, just drinking tea and making sure the stitching is okay. The Okhla heat can be a bit much in the summer, but we just keep the fans going and stay busy. It is a lot of practical work, checking measurements and talking to suppliers about thread counts. We’ve been here for a while and we know the local chai wallahs and the other business owners on the block quite well. It’s just a normal day of work for us.
