Dashrath Bartan Shop

If you go to the Main Jitu Market in Sarita Vihar, you’ll find Dashrath Bartan Shop. We sell all kinds of kitchen utensils, mostly steel and copper stuff. The shop is quite full, so you have to be careful not to knock anything over when you walk in. My father started this shop, and now I’m the one running it most days. We have stacks of plates and pots reaching almost to the ceiling. It’s noisy when we get new stock delivered because of all the clinking metal. Sarita Vihar is a nice place, and the market is always full of life, especially in the evenings. We don't do any big advertising. People just see the pots gleaming in the sun and come over. Sometimes we have to polish the brass items to keep them looking okay. I usually sit on a small stool near the entrance. We don't have a lot of space for a desk or anything. It’s a very traditional way of doing business. No fancy machines, just a scale and some wrapping paper. We’ve been at this spot in Jitu Market for a long time. People know they can come here for a simple frying pan or a large pressure cooker. It’s just what we do. It’s a noisy, metallic, busy life, but it suits us.
