B E C Foods Ltd.

Working at 13 Masjid Moth in the Dda Commercial Complex feels a bit different than a street-side shop. B E C Foods Ltd. is tucked in there, and the complex is always buzzing with people from other offices and small businesses. Even though we are a unit of Bhilai Engineering Ltd, it doesn't feel like a giant machine here. It’s just us, the staff, trying to manage the food side of things every single day. The morning starts with checking the inventory and seeing what came in late last night. The delivery trucks have a hard time sometimes with the parking situation around the complex. It gets really crowded by noon, and finding a spot is almost impossible. We’ve got a small lunch area where we heat up our tiffins in a microwave that has seen better days. The smell of different home-cooked meals fills the room around one o’clock. It’s a nice break from looking at the computer screens. We deal with a lot of paperwork because of the nature of food products. There are always dates to check and labels to look at carefully. It’s not very exciting work, but it’s what we do. The office has been repainted a few times, but it still has that lived-in, slightly messy feel. We know the security guards by name. They’ve seen us come and go for years now. Sometimes the elevator breaks down and we have to take the stairs, which isn’t great when you’re carrying heavy folders or boxes.
