It’s a huge place and it’s very easy to get turned around if you aren’t used to the layout. We are right in the thick of things in the city. The atmosphere is always a bit frantic because that is just how Delhi is, especially around a big hospital site. There’s a lot of noise from the ambulances and the people constantly moving through the halls. We don’t have a lot of space for extra things, so our desks are usually covered in papers and folders. It’s a practical environment. We don’t worry about making things look perfect for visitors because we’re usually too busy with the actual work. The lighting is that standard office yellow, and the floors have seen better days, but it’s where we get everything organized. It takes a certain kind of person to work here and not get overwhelmed by the pace. We just take it one day at a time, making sure the records are kept straight and everything is where it should be. It’s an honest day’s work in a very busy part of the capital. No one here is trying to put on a show; we are just trying to keep up with the demands of the day. It is just life in Delhi, and we are used to it.
