Ashoka Rice & General Mill

Ashoka Rice & General Mill is our place on Naiwala Road. It is where we do all our processing and storage. It is a very straightforward setup. We have the mill area, the storage sheds, and a small patch of ground for the trucks to park while they wait. It gets pretty frantic when the season is in full swing. Everyone is in a rush, and the noise of the engines and the milling gear is constant. We try to stay on top of things, but sometimes the pile of work just keeps growing faster than we can manage. We have got some old machines that need a bit of extra care, but they still do a good job. We spend a lot of our time just sweeping up and keeping the flow moving. Naiwala Road is where we have been for quite some time now. We know the neighbors and the local drivers. It is a community thing as much as a business. We do not put on any acts or try to sound like a big corporation. We are just a local mill trying to get through the day’s work. Sometimes the belt slips or the power fails, and we just take a break and wait it out. It is not a perfect operation, but we get the rice milled and out the door. That is really all that matters to us at the end of the day. It is honest work, and we are glad to be doing it here.
