The Mcdonald office here is located at H-No-2070 in Sector-15, Sonepat, Haryana. This is not one of those big fast-food outlets you see on the highway. It is a brick building in a regular residential sector. Life in Sonepat is a lot slower than in Delhi, and our office reflects that. We are a small team and our daily routine involves a lot of manual record-keeping and managing the local tasks. The office space is very basic with just a few ceiling fans that squeak when they are on high speed. We have metal cupboards for our files and a few old desks. There is a small window in the front that lets us see the street, so we see the local milkman and the vegetable sellers passing by every day. We do not have a fancy reception area or anyone to greet you at the door. If someone comes by, they just walk in and talk to whoever is sitting at the first desk. We start our day early to get things done before the afternoon heat peaks. The power in this part of Sonepat can be a bit unreliable, so we have a small generator we turn on when the lights go out. Most of us have worked together for a long time, so we are more like neighbors than just coworkers. We do not use any complicated business language. We just do our work and head home when the sun goes down.
