Nsmvps Higher Secondary School

If you take the Thirupathur Road out of Devakottai, you’ll find Nsmvps Higher Secondary School easily enough. We are a higher secondary school, so the kids here are a bit older and a bit louder than the primary schoolers. The building is an old one, with thick walls that stay cool even when the sun is beating down on Devakottai. We have a lot of students, so the hallways are almost always full of people moving between classes. It gets very noisy during the lunch hour when everyone is outside. We don't have much in the way of modern gadgets. We still use paper registers and chalkboards because they work and we are used to them. The staff room is always a mess of papers and half-empty tea cups. We have been here long enough that we have taught parents and then their children years later. It’s a local place through and through. The walk from the main part of town isn't too bad, but many students take the bus that drops them right on the road. We have a few trees in the courtyard where kids hang out when they aren't in class. There’s always some repair work needing to be done, like a leaky roof or a broken window, but we fix things as we go. It’s just a regular school where we try to keep things moving along smoothly for everyone.
