Star Cement

Star Cement has been operating out of 5/1F, Tarini Charan Ghosh Lane in Kolkata for a good while now. If you know the area, you know it’s one of those narrow lanes where things can get a bit tight. We are right there in the middle of it. Our day-to-day involves a lot of talk about cement bags, transport, and inventory. It’s a dusty business, honestly, but that’s just how it goes when you’re dealing with building materials. We don’t have a flashy showroom; it’s more of a place where we manage the stock and talk to the people who need cement for their projects. Kolkata is a city that’s always repairing or building something new, so we stay pretty busy. We’ve got some regular faces who come in, and we know most of the loaders by name. The office itself is simple, with old fans and stacks of ledgers. It feels like a real part of the old city. We don't try to be something we’re not. We just make sure the cement gets to where it’s supposed to go on time. Sometimes the weather in Kolkata makes things tricky, especially during the rains, but we manage to keep things moving. It’s a practical life, working with the heavy stuff and making sure the counts are right at the end of the day.
