M. P. Birla Cement

Out here in the village of Bidhannagar, things tend to move a lot slower than they do in the big crowded cities. We are located in the Raiganj area which is part of the Uttar Dinajpur district. Our place of business is basically just a large tin shed where we keep all the cement bags safe and dry from the rain. It is a very rural spot, so on a normal day we see more tractors than cars passing by our front gate. The air is usually a bit clearer out here, though the grey cement dust does fly around a bit when we are busy loading up a cart for a customer. We don’t have a big staff of people, just a few local guys who know how to handle all the heavy lifting without complaining too much. The office area is just a small wooden table with a paper ledger and a very basic calculator sitting on top. We don't have any website or anything like that to show people. Most folks just show up at our door because they heard from a neighbor that we had some stock available. We spend a lot of our time just waiting for the next big delivery truck to arrive from the main manufacturing plant. When the sun gets too hot in the middle of the day, we usually go and sit in the shade of the big tree out front for a while. It’s a simple way to make a living and it keeps us busy.
