Down on Sevoke Road, you’ll find us on the third floor of PCM Tower. Siliguri is always moving, and being right here in the middle of it means there’s never a quiet moment. We’ve been operating out of this floor for a long time. The elevator in the building can be a bit slow some days, so many of us just take the stairs to get the blood pumping. Our office is where the concrete planning happens. It’s not as dirty as the actual sites, but we still bring in plenty of mud on our shoes. We deal with a lot of numbers and schedules here. The desks are covered in blueprints and scrap paper with quick notes jotted down. It’s a bit of a frantic energy when big projects are starting up. We drink a lot of chai throughout the day to keep going. Most of the people working here are locals who understand the roads and the rain in West Bengal. We don’t have a fancy lounge for visitors. If you come by, you’ll probably just sit on a spare chair near a desk. It’s a practical workspace for practical people. We handle the concrete side of things because that’s what we know. The view from the third floor gives us a good look at the traffic on Sevoke Road, which helps us guess if the trucks are going to be late. It’s just how we run things here without any fuss or fancy corporate talk.
