Up here in Shivpuri, specifically in Darpan Colony, we focus on what we know best. Gwalior Boswellia Serrata Producer operates out of Ward No. 39. If you aren't familiar with it, Boswellia serrata is the tree that gives us Indian frankincense. We spend a lot of time dealing with the local collectors who go out and get the resin. Shivpuri has the right kind of environment for these trees, so we stay pretty busy during the harvest months. Our place in Darpan Colony is where everything gets brought in and checked over. It’s often sticky work, and the smell of the resin is always in the air. You can smell us from down the street sometimes. We don’t have a polished showroom. It’s mostly just sacks and crates waiting to be moved. The office part is just a desk in the corner with a computer that’s a bit slow. We deal with people from all over the area who bring in what they’ve gathered. It’s a traditional kind of business, really. We follow the seasons and hope for good weather so the trees produce well. Ward 39 is a quiet residential part of town, so we try not to make too much noise with the trucks. It’s a simple life and a simple business, focusing on what the land gives us.
