Our office for Shivamogga Banjara Farmer Producer Company Limited is located at No 68 in Bidarikoppa, which is part of Shikaripura. It is a very rural setting, which makes sense because we are all about farming. Shikaripura has a lot of history and a lot of land being worked. Most of us here come from the local community, specifically the Banjara groups who have been farming these parts for a long time. The work we do is very hands-on. We don't sit in front of computers all day. Instead, we are often out talking to families about their crops and how we can sell them together as a group. The building we use is quite simple and sits right in the village area. It’s not fancy, just some walls and a roof to keep the sun off while we have our meetings. Sometimes we meet under the trees if the office gets too hot in the summer. We are just trying to help each other out so that the smaller farmers don't get overlooked by the big buyers. It’s a community effort more than a business in the traditional sense. We handle the paperwork and the accounts so the farmers can focus on the dirt and the seeds. It’s hard work, and the rewards aren't always huge, but it’s what we know. We just keep going, season after season, hoping for good rains and decent prices.
