Kuvempu Horticulture Farmer Producer Company Limited is situated in the A D Colony area of Bhadravati. We are right near the Ganapathi Temple, so it is easy to find us if you are in the neighborhood. This part of Shimoga is really good for growing fruits and other horticulture crops because of the environment. A group of us decided to start this company because we wanted to have more say in how our produce is sold. Farming is hard, and selling it is even harder sometimes. We don't have a big fancy setup. Most of our days are spent talking to growers or looking at the quality of the latest harvest. We are regular people, mostly sons of farmers like Kariyappa's family. We know what it is like to sweat in the sun all day only to have a middleman take all the profit. That is why we are here in this small office. We share tips on how to grow better mangoes or whatever is in season. We don't have any polished speeches or marketing tricks. We just know the soil and the plants. It is a local thing for local people. We help each other out with transport and getting better prices. It is just a practical way to keep our farms running and our families fed in this part of Karnataka.
