Rajesh Farm

The farm is over in Gandhi Nagar, in the Durgigudi area. It’s a patch of land where we spend most of our waking hours. Every morning is about checking the soil and seeing what needs attention first. We have a few rows of different vegetables and some trees that we’ve been trying to keep healthy. The birds are always trying to get to the seeds, so we have to stay alert. It isn't a big industrial operation, just us working with our hands and a few basic tools. The shed is where we pile up the harvest before it goes out. It smells like damp earth and cut grass around here most of the time. When the pump for the water breaks, it’s a whole day of grease and frustration trying to get it running again. We don't really have visitors unless it's a neighbor asking to borrow a shovel or complaining about the heat. The sun can be real punishing in the middle of the day, so we take a long break under the big neem tree. Life here follows the rain more than the clock. You get used to the dirt under your fingernails and the way the seasons change the color of the fields. We just do the work that needs doing, day after day, and don't think too much about it. It’s a simple way to live, even if it’s hard on the body and mind.
