Theog Government Degree College

Theog Government Degree College is situated at 16, Subzi Mandi, Shalli Bazaar. It’s right on the Main Road in Theog, which is about an hour or so from Shimla city. The location is very central, right by the market. You can see the hills all around us, and the air is usually quite cold. Since it’s a government college, the building is old and has a lot of character. We have students coming in from the surrounding mountain villages, some walking quite a distance to get to class. The bazaar outside is always noisy with people selling vegetables and trucks passing by, but inside the classrooms, it’s a bit calmer. We have a small staff who manage the different degree courses. The hallways are narrow, and we have a lot of stairs because of the terrain. It’s a very local atmosphere. Everyone knows everyone else. During the winter, we have to deal with the snow, which sometimes makes it hard for everyone to reach the building. It’s a practical place where kids from the hills come to get their higher education without having to go all the way to the main city. We don't have fancy facilities, just the basic classrooms and a small library. It’s just a normal part of life here in Theog for the young people growing up in the area. We try to keep things running despite the weather and the mountain logistics.
