Frontline Public School

Frontline Public School is located in Thanadhar, which is a place many people associate with the orchards in the Shimla district. The school is right there among the trees and the hills. We have a fairly simple setup here, focusing on giving the kids a place to learn without having to travel all the way into Shimla city. The building is solid, and we have enough room for the different grades to have their own space. It gets cold here in the winter, so we have to make sure the rooms are as warm as we can make them. The staff is quite small, so we all end up doing a bit of everything, whether it is teaching a class or helping out in the office with the paperwork. The kids are mostly from the families who live and work in the surrounding area. You can hear them playing during their breaks, and that sound carries across the hills. We don't use a lot of complicated systems; we just stick to the books and the lessons that have worked for years. People around Thanadhar know us as a steady part of the village life. It is a quiet existence for the most part, just following the school calendar and getting through the terms. We like being part of this community and seeing the children grow up as they move from one grade to the next. It is a practical way to spend the day, and we don't ask for much more than that.
