Holy Christ School is out in Kateya, which is part of Gopalganj. It’s a quiet area mostly, except for when the school day begins and ends. Our building is a few stories high with stairs that the older kids climb to get to their rooms. We’ve got a small staff room where the teachers sit and grade papers during their free time. It’s a bit cramped in there with all the registers and books piled up on the table. Out in the courtyard, there’s some space for the morning assembly where everyone stands in lines. We don't have any of those modern fancy computers or anything like that, just basic rooms with chalk and boards. The roof leaks a tiny bit in one corner when it pours, but we put a bucket there and keep moving. Most of our students come from the nearby villages and walk quite a distance to get here. We see them arriving with their bags every morning, sometimes looking a bit tired but ready to sit down. The lunch break is usually the loudest time of the day. You can hear the shouting and laughing from down the street. We try to keep the place tidy, but with so many kids running around, it’s a constant job. It’s just a regular local school trying to do right by the families in Kateya. We’ve been here a while and plan to stay as long as the building holds up.
