Our setup is at Plot No. 206, right near Grapes House in the Vasantdada Market Yard. Being in the market yard means there’s always something going on. Usually involving crates of fruit or big lorries trying to squeeze through the lanes. Rukmini Magnesite Processing has a fairly simple operation here. The facility is focused on the processing side of things. It’s more of a functional workspace than an office you’d find in a high-rise. It gets quite dusty around the plot. The sun really beats down on the yard in the afternoons. We have a small area set aside for the paperwork and the phones, but most of the action happens out where the materials are handled. You can hear the shouting of the traders and the revving of engines all day long. Grapes House is a good landmark for people trying to find us for the first time. We’ve got a small crew. We all know our roles pretty well. There isn’t much fluff here. We just focus on the processing and try to keep the equipment running like it’s supposed to. On rainy days, the yard gets a bit muddy, which makes things a little messy. We just roll with it. It’s a very practical, no-nonsense kind of place. We just get through the task list and head home when the job is done. It is what it is.
