Bokadia Farm

Down here in Shivnagar, things are a bit different than the city. Bokadia Farm is located in the Karad area of Satara district, and we spend most of our time out in the fields or in the sheds. It’s a lot of physical work, waking up before the sun is even fully out. We deal with whatever the season brings us. Sometimes the weather is on our side, and other times it makes things pretty difficult. We aren't a huge operation with hundreds of employees. It’s mostly just family and some local help when things get busy during harvest. There is always something that needs fixing, whether it’s a fence or a piece of equipment that’s acting up. Our hands are usually stained with dirt, and we wear old clothes that we don't mind getting ruined. We don't have a fancy office to welcome people in. If you come by, you’ll probably find us near the storage area or out back. We try to keep the soil healthy and take care of what we have. It’s a long day, and by the time evening rolls around, we’re pretty exhausted. But there’s a certain satisfaction in seeing things grow and then sending them off to be sold. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. It’s just farming, plain and simple. We take it one day at a time and hope for the best with the rain.
