We are the Gadapati Chilly Producer Company Limited. Our place is in Jarabaga, which is under the Mahulpali police station. You can find us at Purushottam Patta’s place. The pin code is 768228 here in Sambalpur. As the name says, we deal a lot with chillies. Sambalpur is a good place for them if the rain is right. We aren't a massive factory. We are just a group of local people trying to make a living from the land. The sun here is strong, which is good for drying the chillies. We spend a lot of time checking the crop and making sure everything is drying properly. It’s a lot of manual labor. We don't have many machines, so we do most things by hand. It’s hard on the hands and eyes sometimes because of the spice, but we don't complain. We know everyone in Jarabaga. If someone has a problem with their crop, they just come over to the house and we talk it out. We don't have a fancy board of directors. It's just Purushottam and a few others keeping things organized. We try to be practical. If a method works, we use it. If it doesn't, we try something else. It’s not complicated. We just want to sell our chillies and make sure the farmers get a fair deal. That’s about it. It keeps us fed and the village stays together. Every year we hope for better rain and a bigger harvest so everyone can do a bit better for their families.
