Our place is right near the Chapra Wali Masjid in Khatakheri. You can usually hear the calls to prayer while we are working, which is a nice part of the day. Khatakheri is a busy spot, and being near the masjid means there are always people walking past our door. We do a lot of wood work and other handcrafted things. The workshop gets quite messy with wood shavings and sawdust everywhere, but that is just how it is when you are making things by hand. We have been here for a good amount of time now. It’s a family kind of setup where everyone knows what their job is. We don't really do much advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here. Most of the work happens in the back where it’s a bit louder. The front is where we keep the finished pieces. Sometimes we have to move things around to make space for new wood coming in. It can get a bit hot in the afternoons, so we usually take a break then. We aren't a big company with offices and stuff. It's just a workshop where we get our hands dirty every day. If you walk down the lane near the masjid, you will probably smell the wood before you see the sign for Ameer Handicrafts. We just try to finish our orders on time and keep the quality decent enough for our customers.
